Not Grecian, Just Graceful...

Good Morning everyone!  I'd like to take a moment and thank you for following my blog and showing support.  Next month will be the first anniversary of La Fleur NaturElle!  This has been an amazing journey and I truly appreciate each and everyone of you :)  In keeping with celebration mode, today's outfit post is a graceful look. This one shoulder maxi dress screams romance. The material consists of a soft/stretch jersey fabric and the neckline is asymmetrical. This dress is ideal for any special occasion. To reiterate, I find it to be romantic, so it will be worn for such an evening or celebration.  I paired it with silver and black accessories.  It can be styled with heels and long earrings for a more formal look; however, I chose to wear patent leather flip flops to keep the look soft.

My hairstyle is a high bun with a pompadour in front. **I promise my hair was in tact prior to the photo shoot.** lol  Check out this YouTube video by Alicia James.  She shares with us 10 (easy to create) formal hairstyles for natural hair.

Outfit Details Here:

Dress: Boohoo
Flip Flops: New York & Company
Clutch: Forever XXI
Jewelry: bracelet (gifted)/circle earrings (Melodrama Boutique)/ring (Forever XXI)

Again, thank you for your continued support! Next week, there will be a recap post for 5 of my favorite looks!
Make certain you stay tuned.....

Macy's & Radio Disney BTS 2013

This past Saturday, I had the opportunity to relive my youth.  I watched as parents and kids formed a line to meet/greet Chloe and Halle, Radio Disney's Season 5 winners of The Next Best Thing! If you're unfamiliar with these talented sisters, you can check them out here! Their voices are amazing!   Macy's hosted the event at the Woodlands mall.  In addition, they showcased children's fashion for BTS (back to school) and prizes were given. The kids were overwhelmed with excitement while dancing with the Radio Disney Team. I had great time just observing the kids having a great time.

Make certain you swing by your local Macy's to check out the latest in school fashion!  Kids have the right to be stylish too :-)

Playful Prints

Good afternoon everyone! I hope you all are having a blessed day!  I am, definitely :)   Today's outfit post is another casual and cute look!  I have the tendency to incorporate a lot of leopard print pieces in my wardrobe, so when I discovered these jeans, it was an automatic must have!  I just adore them!  Animal prints have been popular for awhile now and designers are becoming more creative with the patterns.  These jeans are prime example.  This look wouldn't stand out as much if it weren't for the animal print.  I accented my jeans with a jersey top, closed toe heels and my hobo purse. My jewelry selection includes a linked silver chain and silver bracelets.  This outfit is great for a day of fun with the girls!  If you're like my friends and I, we break away from the monotony of our everyday lives and have tons of fun!

My hair is in a side puff style with bangs.  The style is an old twist out with only Hawaiian Silky 14-n-1.  It's my "go to" style when I'm in need of a quick do!

**Check out this post by Jada Wong for Styleite.  She provides simple ways to wear animal print bottoms.**

Outfit Details Here:

Top: Forever XXI
Jeans: H & M
Shoes: Dollhouse (Ross)
Purse: Express
Jewelry: Retailer on Harwin
Sunglasses Forever XXI

Do you incorporate animal prints in your wardrobe too?  Feel free to share!

Until next time.......

Classic Combo

Hello everyone!! I hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend! I surely did! There is nothing like spending quality time with family. I'm anticipating my next visit home :)  Today's post is my dressy casual style. By now, you all know I love comfy, yet cute outfits; so, this on my fave's list.  I also love the look because it is sort of retro. Pencil skirts have been around for decades. Christian Dior created the classic skirt back in the 40's . They are just as popular today as they were  then. Although my skirt is red, it is subtle and adds just enough pop to my ensemble. The black & white polka dot top is simple too; however, the V-neck/ruched sleeves make it stand out. These are great color combinations and are ideal for work, church, or even a relaxed date night.

My hair is in a twist out style with an afro look.  I used Hawaiian Silky 14-n-1 to for the twist out.  When I want the "big hair," I use a pick to raise and lift my hair from the root. Doing so adds more volume and provides a fuller look.  I love the versatility of natural hair.  There is never a dull moment!

Outfit Details Here:

Top: Rue 21
Skirt: Boohoo
Purse: Gianni Bini (Dillard's)
Shoes: Target
Jewelry: Local Beauty Supply Store
Sunglasses: Forever XXI

I love making fashion statements! Are you bold enough to rock "big hair" and bold reds too? Feel free to comment!

Until next time.....

Natural Graphics!

Happy Wednesday everyone! The best thing about approaching the middle of week is realizing the weekend is getting closer!  Today's post is somewhat of a shout out to natural hair businesses I have supported.  I just love wearing graphic tees!!!  My personality is reserved and quiet, but my t-shirts are usually the complete opposite.  I guess that's my way of expressing myself without verbally expressing myself.  Confusing, huh? lol  Nah, seriously, I adore making bold statements with my apparel selections.  My "all natural everything" tee expresses how passionate I am about my natural journey, plus it's a play on Trindad James' "All Gold Everything" song.  This is just one of many natural hair tee's I own.  I paired my t-shirt with a black blazer, leopard print flats, skinny jeans, and gold/tan accessories.

My hair is in a twist out, which is another one of my favorite "go to" styles. I love rocking my BIG HAIR! It completes my look, especially this one in particular :-)

Outfit Details Here:

Blazer: Forever XXI
T-shirt: Natural Hair Don't Care
Skinny jeans: Wal-Mart
Purse: Burlington Coat Factory
Flats: Ross (old)
Jewelry: Shasa

Are you rocking your natural hair and cute natural tees as well?  Feel free to share....

Military Style

Hello everyone!!  I hope you all are having a blessed week! Today's post is of my favorite mermaid skirt.  I've had this olive
cargo skirt for quite some time! I do not remember the retailer, but it was like nothing I had ever seen before, especially in this particular color. I just had to purchase it! lol I decided to pair the skirt with a simple muscle  tee and camouflage scarf. I added black and silver jewelry pieces as accents.  This look is ideal for just hanging out and relaxing.  It's a softer side of the military look.  The camo style is a trend that will be around for awhile.  There are so many different patterns/styles to choose.  Camouflage is available in apparel as well as accessories.  I recently bought a cute pair of camo cross earrings. I can't wait to wear them.

My hair is blown out with a low, messy side bun.

Outfit Details Here:

Muscle Tee: Academy Sports & Outdoors (old)
Skirt: Retailer Unknown (old)/similar skirt here
Purse: Express
Footwear: Flip flop sandals (Ross)
Jewelry: Button Earring (retailer on Harwin)/ band bracelet (Hot Topic)/bangles (Shasa)

Are you rocking the military look too?  How so? Let's discuss.....

Bell Bottom Blues

Hello Everyone!  I'm hoping you're having a blessed day thus far!  I'm excited we're halfway through with another work week! Today's post is one of my usual "casual friday" looks.  I love flare leg/bell bottom jeans!!  I feel so retro when sporting them!  Yes, to reiterate, I love everything RETRO!  I decided to keep the look basic with minimal accents.  My top is sheer with gathered detailings on each side and a rust colored cami underneath.  My congnac handbag, shoes, and  gold accessories add a bit of pop to the outfit. I really adore this leather bag.  I went thrifting for the first time last year and found this for less than $6!  I see why so many people frequent thrift shops! I still haven't used it, but will do so really soon.

My hair is pushed up in a high bun.  Prior to going natural, this was a common style for me.  It's simple and elegant.

Outfit Details Here:

Top: Trend Mall
Cami: Forever XXI
Jeans: Ross (old)
Shoes: Ross (old)
Purse: Thrifted
Jewelry: Citi Trends/Body Central
Sunglasses: Union Bay (Ross)

Maxed Out!

Happy Wednesday everyone!  So, if you've been following my blog,  you know I love being comfortable and cute!  When it comes to ultimate comfort, maxi dresses are key!  I just adore them because they're elegant and chic.  I also love the versatility of maxi's.  You can easily throw on a blazer/sweater for work or wear alone with cute accents for an after 5.

I've known many females to avoid maxi dresses.  To those of you who fear them, here are a few tips on how to select the right style for your body type.

Tidibit:
  • For petite females, you may want to wear heels/wedges since most maxi dresses are made for average heights.  Also, go for maxi's with higher waistlines.  This gives the illusion of height.
  • For women with CURVES, consider selecting a combo maxi.  These are two-toned maxi dresses.  Make certain the top is lighter than the bottom.  This gives the illusion of a slimmer build.
  • For my well-endowed ladies, go with a v-neck maxi.  This style provides balance to the cleavage area.
  • For the coke bottle figures, fitted waists with full-flaring skirts are appealing.

My hair is blown out with a low, messy side bun style.

Dress: Trend Mall (similar dress found here)
Shoes: Trend Mall (similar shoes found here)
Purse: Express
Jewelry:  New York & Company

Comfort Zone

Happy Happy Hump Day peeps!  So....normally, I'm not one to  wear shorts, but it has been HOT in Houston! I stopped wearing shorts, particularly above the knee shorts, back in my college days.  For today's post, I am sporting a pair with bold, black & white geometric prints.  I'm partial to these because of the loose fit and comfort.  Everyone has their preference; however, this style is ideal for my taste.  I decided to accent the shorts with royal blue and grey.  Add this type of look to your "wardrobe must haves" for your next vacation.  You can pair such an outfit with sandals/flats by day, then transition to cute wedges/heels for evening.  It's lightweight and very easy to pack!

My hairstyle is a blown-out side puff with a goody's ouchless band.  It is soooo humid down here, the natural tends to poof up quickly! #bighairdon'tcare :)
